Solution
Hey Ronel. Try going to Disk Management and creating a new partition from there, since you've already installed Windows. Here's how to do that: How to partition and format a hard drive on Windows (8.1, 8, 7, Vista, XP) (even though it says "WD drive", this guide goes for every drive there is, so don't worry about that).
If you still can't create a new partition this way and the issue isn't resolved, then I'd suggest that you take a look at this thread: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_install/error-0x8004240f-failed-to-create-a-new-partition/03270f3f-116e-4d1d-8f27-17ff1108460d. It has a possible solution about the same problem as yours and it could prove useful.

Hope that helps.

thanks buddy.. the solution you gave helped me to resolve my problems.. one more question.. Does formatting a Windows XP drive using a Windows 7 DVD during installation effect somehow??

Sure thing mate, I'm glad I was able to help. As for your question, generally it shouldn't affect the drive no matter which OS CD/DVD you use to format the HDD prior to the installation, but these things happen sometimes. The important thing is that there was an easy fix for your case. And I'd suggest that if you're worried about your drive, that you download the manufacturer's diagnostic tool and test it, just to see what's the situation with it and to make sure that everything's OK. :)
