Well, this started to happen a month ago, and this is not the first time this has happened to me. A year earlier, I was unable to use my PC because of the motherboard issue, my PC used to turn off after few milliseconds of boot up everytime. I took it to the repair shop where they told me that my motherboard was the culprit and they have to repair it, after few days I could use my PC normally, and it happened again after few weeks and I did the same and it was working fine until a month ago. This time however, with bit of luck and trying, it works fine ( shutdowns randomly and sometimes when I play demanding games ).

I tried replacing the PSU as I thought it had to be the culprit this time because after working here and there I could run my PC, but the problem didnt go away then I thought heating might be the issue for this frequent shutdowns, I cleaned everything up with the blower and applied thermal paste after resitting every components, but no luck with that as well, then I cleared the CMOS by resitting the battery, same ! I went through numerous threads here in toms hardware and followed various methods, and I still have the problem.

Sometimes ( rarely ) at the start it gives me error like -" Previous Overclock settings have failed, press F1 to change settings and blah blah ", and I havent even overclocked anything ! That error is just random, sometimes pc boots up fine without the error until windows starts to load and baamm, it shuts down again ! Recently, I noticed few things, when I enter BIOS to check things, I see my CPU frequncy at 200 and FSB multiplier or something like that at Auto, and the total freq reads 200x4 = 800Mhz, DAMN! and after a quick restart, it gets to normal 200x16 = 3200Mhz, this completely baffles me. Nowadays, I have to restart my pc everytime in order to run my cpu at its normal frequency because at first it always loads of at 800Mhz. Today, I tried underclocking my CPU, I gradually dropped down the multiplier, from 16 to 14, and after few seconds of boot, right at the windows 7 loading screen, computer goes off ! And I dropped it a little more at 12, right now its working fine as I am typing this. I am getting frustrated with all of this, sometimes I can use my PC with no problem and most of the times it just keeps shutting down randomly.

Please, I need help regarding this ! Should I change my motherboard? Thank you very much in advance ! :)

My PC specs:

Motherboard : MSI NF725M-P31 [MS-7597]

Processor : AMD Phenom II x6 1090T 3.20 Ghz, using @ 2.4Ghz at the moment [ Normal CPU fan ]

RAM : 4GB 1333Mhz DDR3 (Single piece)

GPU : ATI Radeon 5450 HD 1GB

OS : Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit

Have a great day !

Yeah, they repaired it. But, I was thinking how it is running fine (mostly) while underclocking at less than 2.8Ghz, can CPU fan be the issue? I am thinking of changing my motherboard now. Any suggestions on it? Since, I am on tight budget, it will be helpful if you could list out some low budget motherboards. And yeah, we dont have much options to choose from here in my country. MSI, ASRock, ASUS, Esonic motherboards are available here. Thank you very much for your reply :)

If you are okay with a micro atx board and if you can get your hands on it, I recommend a gigabyte 78lmt-usb3 solid little board and only about $60-$70 on Amazon. Not sure if you can get that where you are though.
