I have an external Toshiba 1TB hard drive that messed up about a year ago so I took it apart and pulled the hard drive out and checked to see if I could just hard line it internally in my computer, it turned out that it wasn't messed up it was just the chip that the external was using to transfer it to a USB 3.0. I just hooked it up internally using a sata cable to use it as an extra hard drive but there is a problem with it because when I put file on it, it will just duplicate the file and send it over to the drive as if its still an external, for those that don't know when you drag and drop a file into an external it just transfers a duplicate file over to the hdd while leaving the original on the real hard drive. Is there any way I can stop it from doing this and make it so it just transfers over fully, its gotta be taking longer than normal creating a duplicate like that. Its not a super big problem its just annoying.

Actually no. It is not because it is or was an external drive, but rather just another drive.

Drag and drop between two drives defaults to copy and paste in the new location.
Drag and drop between two folders on the same drive defaults to Move.

What you see is normal operation.

If you want it to do something else (Move, perhaps), right click and drag. You'll get a context menu allowing you to choose what action.

Just guessing here: Sounds like either there is firmware at work (HDD chip set instructions on the HDD hard wired board) or existing software for backups still on the drive. Did you format after moving it? You might try a quick format and see if it solves the issue. If not then it is likely part of the drives bios or firmware set.
