Hi all

I bought a relatively decent desktop in September 2013 but have only recently started using it for gaming, I was always a console guy beforehand (I know, I know...).

I've been really impressed with my PC's gaming performance so far, to the point that I'm about ready to sell my PS4 and commit to my PC as my games machine. To do so I think I need to upgrade at least my GPU to fully enjoy newer/upcoming AAA games like Arkham Knight, Battlefield Hardline etc, however my only experience in upgrading components is in adding an additional hard drive.

Current specs:
Case: Cooler Master Elite 334U Case
Processor: Intel Core i5 3570K Processor 3.40 GHz (No Overclocking)
Cooler: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V LX Motherboard
Memory: 8GB Corsair PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3 Memory (2 x 4GB sticks)
GPU: Chillblast NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2048MB Graphics Card
Hard Drive: 1000GB 7200RPM Hard Disk - 6Gbps
Power: Chillblast Basic 700W PSU
Sound: Onboard High Definition Audio

If anyone has a minute to make some recommendations I'd be really grateful. I'm not looking to spend ££££s all at once, but my thought is to upgrade the GPU (possibly to the Nvidia GTX 970?) along with any of the above that would need upgrading to avoid bottlenecking?

Thanks for the advice:)

I got the MSI Nvidia GTX 970 yesterday, plugged it in (eventually took out the fan on the side of the PC case after working out what the horrendous noise was when the power was switched on, fan was brushing against the GPU) but once power switched on there was no picture.

Long story short, you were right about upgrading my PSU, turns out it only has one 6-pin connector to the GPU but the new GPU takes a 6 and a 8 pin at same time. After some browsing online I've ordered EVGA Supernova 750W G1 Gold Modular Power Supply Unit this morning, hoping it'll solve my problem and get the GPU up and running.

Re: cooling - I currently have 3 fans inside the PC (one of which may need to be removed permanently to make room for the new GPU). I want to ensure the PC is well ventilated/cooled to avoid overheating, a friend had mentioned to me about getting water cooling? Can anyone recommend a particular cooling component?

Any and all help is appreciated
