Hey guys i added 2 more sticks of this RAM : G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory to the same pre existing 2 sticks to make 16gb

However i've noticed that my pc takes longer to start up now as well as run some programs once I am logged in. Just incase you are wondering here is my motherboard and processor:

Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard
AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor

I really don't see why it should be running slower and I appreciate any help I can get! Thanks.

Mixing ram can cause problems.
I suspect your motherboard is struggling to find a speed and spec combination that will let you post.
cpu-z will display the settings you booted with.

You may get better results if you can up the ram voltage a bit. It is hard for a motherboard to manage 4 sticks vs. 2.

To check the frequency the DIMM's are currently running at, boot into BIOS and note frequency on main page, or download and use CPU-Z (or similar program).

Try, booting into BIOS and increase CPU/NB Manual Voltage by 0.5 V (don't exceed 1.4 V). And increase DRAM Voltage by 0.5 V (don't exceed 1.65 V).

Reboot and check DIMM frequency again. If no change, repeat above procedure and increase voltages a bit more again, and see what happens.
