Hello. So my computer that I built about 4 months ago has a problem that I cannot seem to fix. Nothing went wrong before this happened. Every time I turn it on says "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key." I only have one ssd with no other harddrives or anything and it has windows 7 on it. It has all of my games because it's a custom gaming computer. I have no idea what to do so please help.

Solution
If you tap F8 repeatedly as the machine boots up, you should get to safe mode... unless the drive is dead or has a corupt boot sector.

So, when you boot to the Win7 installation disk and select repair, you get that msg? Isn't that the disk you used to install Win7?

Thanks for replying. I haven't had a chance to do that yet but I do remember that the problem came up right after I finished playing Diablo 3 for the first time which took up about 4 hours. I didn't mention it before because I didn't think that could have been a possible cause to the problem but now I'm not sure.

You're right, it shouldn't have had anything to do with it. That's why it will be important to see if the BIOS "sees" the SSD. If it doesn't show up on the boot menu, boot to BIOS and see if it shows up in the drive list. If the SSD is recognized, then it would point to a boot issue with Windows 7.

Btw, did you have a HDD is service when you installed Win7 to the SSD?

I didn't have an hdd when I installed win7 to the ssd. I built the computer with only an ssd. And about the boot menu: There are two things which I think could be the ssd. The first one is Sata2: atapi ihas124 e. The other is Sata4: SSD2SC240G3SA754D117-4. Whenever I try either of them they both bring up that same message.

If you have an optical drive attached, it is probably the atapi ihas124 e. The SSD2SC240G3SA754D117-4 appears to be the SSD.
But if it is recognized as a bootable device, and you cannot boot to it, it would appear that it doesn't have a boot sector that is readable anymore.
Can you boot to safe mode, or is that the same result?

If safe mode is a no-go, boot to the Win7 installation disk and use the repair option.

Clutchc, could you tell me how to boot on safe mode? And when I click repair after booting from the win7 disk it says "This version of system recovery options is not compatible with the version of windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of windows." Not sure what this means.

Ok I found a solution thank god. In the boot menu something new was there this time for reasons I don't know. It was called "windows boot manager". I swear this was never there before. I just clicked on that and my computer started up normally. I don't know if this solution I temporary but I'll just have to find out. Thanks for helping me.

I have the same problem but my keyboard also stopped working so I can't click the delete key to enter BIOS. I'm also using a samsung SSD and I know the keyboard does work because I was able to use BIOS and windows before with it.
