i dont like the default exaust fan my case came with so i need to swap it out.. I got the Thermaltake overseer snow edition

i was just wondering what type to fan to throw on the rear exhaust. SHould i get one with high static pressure or high airflow? I was going to go grab one of the corsair fans at frys tomorrow but wasn't sure which to grab. I think from the bit of googling i did that i would want a high airflow model for the exhaust, NOT the static pressure one, correct? It seems SP models are more for intake or where you have to get through HD's or grills.

assuming thats the case; which one should i get? There Seems to be a high performance edition, and a quiet edition. Id like low noise but the CFM rating on the quiet is kinda low. Anyone tried them? Is the quiet ok for an exaust or should i get the high performance edition?

heres the stats on the high performance model
http://www.corsair.com/en/air-series-af120-performance-edition-high-airflow-120mm-fan
and the quiet model
http://www.corsair.com/en/air-series-af120-quiet-edition-high-airflow-120mm-fan
and the LED model
http://www.corsair.com/en/air-series-af120-led-blue-quiet-edition-high-airflow-120mm-fan

HP is 63.47 CFM @ 30DB while the quiet is only 39.88 CFM @ 21db
The LED model is 52.19 CFM @ 25.2DB... kinda middle of the road between the quiet and pro model

<40cfm seems kinda low to me. So assuming its the airflow model i want, not the static pressure, which of those should i get for the exaust? The LED almost seems the best, but i kinda wanted a non-LED model. I will have a 200mm intake, 2x 200mm exausts on top, and a 200mm intake on the side. i was thinking of putting a 120mm intake on the bottom too but wasn't sure

One more thing: i have a cougar 120mm laying around, this one

would that be good for the intake on the bottom? what about the exhaust?

Cougar fans with the vortex feature are really good for intake fans, not so much for the exhaust fans.

You're correct in saying that static pressure fans are meant for heatsinks or to pass through HDD cages, so don't get those for regular case fans. I would get the quiet version for now, unless your temperatures are really high - I like to have a quiet computer.

Unless you have a restricted exhaust I would only go for non-static pressure fans. Personally, the AF120 is to loud & the AF120 Quiet doesnt perform well enough for the noise.
So I would get a NF-S12A, NF-S12B Redux or NF-P12
Check out these vids to see how quiet these are at even full voltage (12V).

S12A:

I think his CFM is low for the S12A...Ive had the S12B Redux and it at full blast only made an air turbulent sound. S12A is supposed to be better.
Heres the S12B Redux Im speaking of:

NF-P12:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWoSM70Ame4

*set your volume using the S12B video to where you can hear the wind at 12Volts....then watch all the other vids to compare the noise.

**If you dont need the best noise/performance then get the AF120 Quiet Edition.

Good Luck & Pay It Forward!

those noctuas look good but it doesn't seem fry's carries them. It needs to be something they carry since im going in tomorow to pick it up to finish this. My hands are jacked up right now so my cousins down helping me put the rest of the parts in and hes leaving in a day or two so i cant buy something i need to ship

So between those Corsair ones any idea what would work the best? Is the LED a good trade off?

damn just found out the bitfenix 200mm i got for the intake doesn't really fit because of the large edges >_< wonder if i can file it down

but performance wise, do they work well for an exaust? They seem the middle stat wise between the performance and quiet editions of the air flow models for corsair
