Is This A Good 1000$ Gaming PC

Solution
do you already have the GPU are you going to buy it?

I would change the PSU for two reasons, the main one is because it's only rated bronze, so the efficiency is not the best you can get for that price. The second reason is this review http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/02/15/antec_high_current_gamer_900w_power_supply_review/9 , but there are some other good reviews of the PSU you want to pick: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story5&reid=211

Change your GPU to an r9 270/80. They'll be able to run games a lot better.
You dont really need a 900w PSU but there's no harm in it. But just in case you want to get something else which is better then you can buy a smaller PSU.
That RAM comes in red I think too, it'll match your colours better :)

I'm an Intel Fan so I'll always say to chose intel over AMD but if you're happy with running AMD then that's fine. You'll probably be able to get it a lot cheaper though if you search around online. There doesn't look a lot there for 1000$. I run a very powerful PC with watercooling for just over 1k.

Hope this helps :)

This would sway your build to be on the Intel side. AMD may have more processing threads (not cores), but it way behind Intel on pure processing power. Give the Intel i5 (or i7) a mild overclock and no AMD processor will be able to keep up. In fact, the AMD processor will need to be overclocked in order to keep up with the i5-4460 build logainofhades recommended (no overclocking)...

In my opinion a good i5 is future proof and for someone who wants a "future proof build" you did not choose the right card. I highly suggest one of the i5 builds + gtx 970 builds that were suggested above.

EDIT: most of the time you will see no performance gain on games for having SSD, only loading time will be faster, I think. So it would probably be better to buy a 120 or 240 GB SDD + 1 TB HDD (WD or Seagate)

And you should probably get only 8gb ram for now, and if in the future you fell the need for more you can easilly upgread your sistem, with the money you save you can get better CPU (I recomend i5 or, if you can afford it a xeon E3 1231 or 1241
