Gaming Rig Part List Help

Solution
It's (as you said) a light gaming on 1080p. you are going to buy an Sandisk SSD. SSD won't increase your FPS. it only increases the speed of loading in the game and decreases the loading time. I don't recommend to buy an SSD. spend that money on a better GPU or CPU (like an R9 285,but then you have to get an I3).

I strongly second bumping the CPU up to an I3, the hyper-threading will help quite a bit in games and general use. Your build is pretty solid otherwise.

An R9 285 isn't any better than a GTX 960. The cards are practically the same price now; he's better off with the 960 for it's lower power consumption. (mini rant: WTF on naming AMD? 280X > 285, but 265 > 260X)

The 960 is a really beefy card for "lightweight" gaming. Paired with an I3, the rig could run even the most demanding games @1080p medium settings with good framerate.

Cheers!

If your budget is nearly maxed as it is, you can easily drop the video card down a half-step to fit in the I3 and still run any game out there @1080 med settings with good fps.

the R9 280 is weaker than GTX 960. Although that the GTX 960 has a better GPU, the GTX has a bigger memory bus Interface which will help in games that needs more memory. and I also recommend an I3-4160.

Please read the first sentence in my post you just quoted.

I can only assume you meant the 280 had a wider memory bus. Saying the 960 has a larger bus is ludicrous.
