I've had my laptop, Aspire E1-472 for a while now, it was running great on Windows 7. For some reason, however, I upgraded it to Windows 8.1. Problem now is, my physical memory actually maxes out (it says so on task manager). What are my best options?
A. Add more RAM (Assuming it is possble?)
B. Revert back to Windows 7.

Your insights on this one will be highly appreciated. Thank you!

Anyway, Specs: intel i5, 2 GB DDR3 L memory, intel HD graphics 4400.

Solution
64 bit systems require a minimum of 2 GB of ram. Your best option would be to upgrade your ram or switch to windows 8.1 32 bit.

Thank you sir. I'll take note of that option. But would it be possible for me to add more RAM into a laptop without actually causing harm to its system?

Most laptops are designed to let you upgrade the RAM, Hard Drive and the Wireless card. Its a normal thing to upgrade ram on a laptop. To Replace the RAM, you need not remove the MBD, just remove the Plastic cover at the bottom & you'll get access to the Memory module to replace.

For the type of RAM, you need ddr3 SODIMM ( the smaller then desktop size ram )
you can buy off crucial. They have a nice compatibility guide for laptops.

Thank you for enlightening me. Gonna switch back to 32 bit, and probably after I finish some things I need to do, work on adding more juice. Have a nice day!

Sadly I have a PC which has 2 gb of ram and the available ram when you open a browser is already 600mb or more (I'm using firefox as my default browser btw. I also don't recommend chrome on a 2gb ram pc since chrome is a ram eater) and that is running on a 32 bit version of Windows 8.1. I don't have any apps except for dropbox as startup btw. So upgrading the ram is your only choice. I'm using firefox as my default browser btw.
