I plan to get a wireless adapter for my desktop but right now I don't have enough money. I started using ICS and it worked without me having to do anything. After a few weeks it just stopped working. I have searched many websites, gone through many steps in order, and enabled many services trying to fix this! I have the setting for the wireless connection on the host set to share but the second computer gets an Unidentified network. On the host I run a Network Diagnostic on the Ethernet and it says: "Ethernet" does not have a valid IP configuration. I need help on fixing this. I don't know what else to do!

Solution
Go to your Network Connections and select the connection that your getting your internet from and the other Nic port where the desktop is connected threw ethernet. Make sure that both connections are highlighted (selected) and then "right click" on the connection where your getting internet from and click on BRIDGE CONNECTIONS. That should bridge them together enabling the internet to be shared to your desktop.

Also make sure your desktop and laptop are in DHCP.

I thought this would happen...it stopped working. Every time it starts working it stops. I restarted my computer for updates and it stopped. I have the network bridged. I have unabridged and bridged it again. Now my desktop will say Network 2 and in 2 seconds it will switch to unidentified network. It just switches in between both of these. I have tried everything I can find on this stupid thing called the internet. I have spend 16 hours on this (Network bridging and ICS). Nothing works. I can't do anything to make this always work.

Check your Ethernet cable, the cable might be bad, try using another Ethernet cable.

I am unclear as to why you are running ICS on the desktop. It would help if you could fill us in on the need to run ICS, how you are sharing the connection from the desktop and with what other devices.

I am building a Desktop. It runs right now. I plan to buy http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320181 soon. My router is downstairs and my dad won't let me run a cord upstairs to I'm using the laptop for wifi. I want internet for my desktop so I was using ICS but that stopped working. I tried Network bridge and that stopped working to. I need help getting it to work. I have spend to much of my time trying to fix this and nothing works.
