Am going to buy a used q6600 ... Anyhow to check its performance to test it properly, to see if it has any problems ??
Ita my first time buying a used cpu .
Thanks in advance

Solution
Well, first of all, if it doesn't crap out during the test, then that means the chip still has some life in it.

Beyond that...not sure what you're really expecting from an 8-year-old LGA 775 CPU. If it runs, that's all you can really expect from it.

Check for obvious signs of abuse ... bent pins, brown 'scorch' marks on pads or pins, messy old paste, etc. Ask if the chip was over-clocked and what the volts/settings were. A Yorkfield C2Q would be a good bit more efficient and a tad-bit faster.

Check behavior coming out of sleep/hibernation. Monitor C&Q/Speedstep performance. I even check the maximum under-volt at idle and load.

I run an hour of OCCT at stock volts/temps. I use a build-specific triple-torture load test. Make up your own: Record an HDTV stream while running CineBench15 with 6 browser tabs open.

Putting it in a decent mobo with good RAMs will help, too.

Ok thank yoy guys .. The reason i wanna buy tjat cpu is i have an intel celeron D 347 a so low performer even in low end games and a motherboard g31, 3gb ddr2 rams and a 9500 gt gddr3 1gb . Pretty low end yah ?
So all i can afford for an upgrade to make able to run some of the modern fames is pretty low as well smd i came across that cpu for a good price that i have now .. So thats why ?

I now been looking at a gts 450 to pair with this cpu for a little performance boost ... A good idea ? Any better idea ?
Thank you

Yea under 20 usd in the US is pretty affordable, but in egypt it is not .. Let me do the math for u :
1 dollar = 8 egp
20 dollars = 140 egp
So the ti gfx card is ... Well pricey here
And that cpu costs me 255 egp .

If it POSTS's and boots into Windows 99.999999% chance it is fine.
