Do you have to worry about compatibility when it comes to GPU's and motherboards?

I'm just about to buy a new motherboard, the MSI 970 Gaming MOBO. I know that it is compatible with my FX 8320 processor, but is compatibility an issue with anything else? Do I have to worry about RAM, power supply, or GPU? This is probably a really stupid question, but I'd rather be safe than sorry, I'm new to this. I have a Radeon R9 280X by the way.

Solution
Every graphics card fits and works in every motherboard. You just have to make sure the card fits in your case and that your power supply can reliably run it.
sometime with some parts there are small issues that are fixed with bios updates. you can read from the mb vendor wen page all of the bios patches and there patch notes. the biggest issue with mb and cpu is making sure the cpu is made for that mb and the mb bios rev is at a point it will post with the cpu you want. on older mb you have to be care full of getting a mb with old bios and no way to update it without sending the mb into the vendor or seeing if a friend has a cpu that you can use to boot and then flash the bios.

But my computer all has really new parts and the MOBO is new too, so I won't get any of these issues, right?
