I've never built a PC before but I'm interested in it because I heard they are cheaper. I was wondering if someone could recommend a build for me with the specifications I will be using it for. I've tried to cross reference with multiple guides but feel it would be best if I just asked.

The whole purpose of this new desktop is to play Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls and Minecraft without my computer sounding like the space shuttle readying for launch. I'm not a big PC gamer and won't be in the future, just D3 and Minecraft because a couple friends of mine had me try them and I enjoyed them and would like to play online with them. My spending limit is $1,000 but if you can go cheaper that is better, then I can get an OS, Keyboard & Mouse under $1,000.

Use/Questions:
My goal is to have a computer that can play D3 on 1080p with max settings, but is also silent! So if a GPU costs a little extra so it won't be running as loudly, please advise that haha. I've looked at the MSI GTX 970 4G and that one looks nice and quiet? If buying after market fans and such is what keeps the PC silent over the GPU being better then please advise good fans. Please no water cool, I feel I'd fail so hard trying to install that, just top of the line fans.

I will never overclock or need to in the future. So no CPU's with a K.

I don't do any video editing but I do stream tv shows and movies from online sites, if thats what is meant by streaming lol for the CPU.

Can you also make this PC have bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi 802.11ac? In the future I will be able to hardline, but I'm still in a college apartment and wifi would be preferred for now.

For a SSD I believe the only thing I'd use it for is the OS? Or do I even need one?

I've watched enough videos to know about the WD 1TB Hard Drive lol.

For the case, I don't know what is better or worse between Full or Mid Tower? I'd rather not have it take up more space, but if getting a full tower means my PC is silent and doesn't overheat, then it's okay. If i can get silence in a mid-that would be even better! A side window would be cool if they make one that still is silent and has those dust filters.

I'd rather take a quiet black box than one with a window that collects dust and sounds louder. I don't mind going over $1000 a little to get a solid silent case.

If you can find all these parts under $1000, that would be awesome! If not just tell me what kind of price I'm looking at for a computer like this.

If anyone could do this for me, that would be awesome!

Thank you

I can suggest a really good PC that can play more than just diablo for $1000 but before that I will need to know what you mean by silent. Different people have different levels of noise they are comfortable with. I run 2 MSI gtx 970 in a midtower case (HAF 922) and 3 big fans. Under full load I can say that they sound about as loud as a fan that you would use during the summer. My build is by no means the quietests you can go but it would be helpful if you could elaborate more on what level of noise you find comfortable. Also keep in mind that if $1000 is your max than your PC should come to about $800 max because of the taxes and shipping charges. So that is you limit but we can go even lower than that if Diablo and minecraft are all you are gonna pay. In most cases, the quieter you want your PC the greater the cost.

Yes I am positive. I would likely continue with the Diablo series though. So if in 5 years another one comes out, it would be nice to be prepared for those settings requirements. This is more so just an overall desktop with the occasional gaming. Getting by around $500 would be awesome but if you've got to go higher to make it more silent then I'm okay with that.

When the computer is idle, obviously i wouldn't want to hear it at all. So no fans running at idle, but also it won't overheat with no fans running. As for loud id say 45-50 db is getting pretty loud. When i'll be playing a movie or a listening to itunes while gaming I wouldn't want to hear the PC over the sound of the movie or music when I'm playing a game. Right now I have the new MacBook Pro 2015 and it is completely silent. I would like something of comparison, for sure when browsing the web but also when playing games. As far as max price I'd like to stay under $1,000 but if shipping and tax get me a little over that's okay. So max I guess would be $1,100. It sounds like diablo and Minecraft can be played for a lower price but I'd rather pay around $1,000 to keep it silent. Hopefully this PC will last quite a while as well.

This will be quiet and do everything you asked. I included a blueray burner. And few things your requirements can do without. Stock cpu fan is usually good enough and fairly quiet compared to the olden days (p4) but I have used the one I linked. It works well and is quiet. The i3 is more than you need for the games you mentioned. but I see no reason to buy something completely low end. You can easily get by with 4GB of ram for the games you mentioned and tasks you wanted to perform.

Here's a more expensive computer, the 350D is very good for low noise and putting the 2 noctua fans in will almost guarantee the fans running low speed, even at load. The Cryorig H7 is quiet and cheap, and I copied the wireless card from spentshells because it's quite good and I'm a shameless plagiarist ;):

As far as cases go, I know absolutely nothing about building, so which would be best for cable management so I don't have wires going everywhere? Spentshells I see you had a $35 case, is there another you would recommend even if it costs more I'd be willing to pay more for something that is going to be easier to build in and look more neat.

And between the 750 and 960, which will run cooler and more silent during both idle and when I'm playing games or watching movies?

Thank you both Spentshells and Alpha3031 so far!

Also are there any good LED fans? With these prices I feel I could replace a couple with some colored ones to add a little something.

You have a lot of good options, might I be so bold as to suggest another. This is an ITX build so noise shouldn't be an issue. The build is a bit expensive but you can swap out parts and go for cheaper ones. The ones given are a bit more than what you need anyways. I should mention that you will most likely need to install a cpu cooler though I don't think they are any more difficult to install than any of the other components.

That case is fine to work in. I have it and love it. Both the video cards will be cool and quiet, the 960 is just way faster and ultimately it's use would be lost on your usage but costs around 80 dollars more.
The card I linked in the super cheap build would actually be right on the money for your usage and cheap.

As for the LED lights there is a colored fan at the front. I can't remember what color, I replaced it with white/blue for my game of thrones theme " winter is coming"

The carbide case
Here is the big but, This is a top mount PSU case. I have found cable management is a lot easier with a bottom mount PSU style case.

Alpha3031 linked a great case, amazing even, but it's a lil too pricey for me. Check out it's lil bro
