I just built my computer and checked cpuz. I'm little confused. I thought I7-5960x comes with 3 ghz stock but showing only 1.2 ghz. Also, for some reason windows 7 index score cannot read my memory and will not score. Can someone help?

Your perfectly fine that's NORMAL! Your CPU is downclocking to conserve energy when loads are next to or at 0%. So do something intensive, like run a stress tester then you'll see it kick back up to 3.2ghz.

It's called SpeedStep, if you don't like it or it's causing problems for some reason, you can turn it off in the BIOS. However I don't recommend that since the CPU will stay at high clock rates 24/7 so you loose your energy efficiency.

Install windows 8.1/10 and the silly/useless windows benchmark will disappear :)

And yeah, you can disable speedstep in your bios if it really bothers you.

That's perfectly normal. If the CPU usage is fairly low, the frequency will stay low to conserve energy. If you run an intensive program, or stress test it, it will go to 3GHz. Also, Windows Experience Index isn't very good. Try any benchmarking software to see how good your PC really is. I would recommend NovaBench or 3DMark.
