Hey guys,

I'm looking to create the best rendering and modelling PC under my budget.

I am looking for something fast, able to handle big models and can render in vray in shortest time possible.

I would love any help as I'm new in the area :)

BatelRahat,

In my view, the current best cost / performance platform for a workstation including rendering is a Xeon E5-1650 v3 on an X99 motherboard, with a Quadro GPU in the case of Autodesk, Adobe, and Dessualt (Solidworks , Catia) visualization applications. The LGA2011-3 seems the best choice as the memory bandwidth is doubled and there are 40 PCIe lanes to the 28 of LGA1150, but most importantly, you can start with a quad core CPU and later change to an 18-core. The LGA2011-3 seems the best choice as the memory bandwidth is doubled and there are 40 PCIe lanes to the 28 of LGA1150, but most importantly, you can start with a quad core CPU and later change to an 18-core. With LGA1150, the limit is four cores. If you're using GPU-based rendering, fewer and faster cores are better, but rendering is one of the limited applications that can use every core.

With this is mind, here is a idea for a system that should have good performance for the cost for your uses;

I've had very good results with the Quadro K2200 (4GB) in an HP z420, producing higher 3D benchmarks on Passmark than a Quadro k4000. If you are doing heavy 3D animation modeling though, or very large file projects, I'd recommend the Quadro K4200 (4GB) = about +$400.

sora,

Thank you. When a person doesn't mention where they are located, I use the currency of the budget as the prime indicator- in this example given as:"$2,500", indicated that the OP is shopping in U.S. Dollars. Still, the post has a very international flavour-, the "Hey Guys" seemed American, but if the moniker is the person's actual name, could be Israeli /Arabic, and possibly a woman (Batel means, "daughter of Israel"). Given all these possibilities, the UK prices were included as well.

I'm often wrong though- a couple of days ago, someone was asking about doing a workstation in Euros, so I looked at German sites, but the OP was actually in Argentina- the parts would be sent by family in DE. Something I like very much about Tom's forum is that it's really international and I imagine I've responded to posts from at least ten or twelve countries. Just as Latin was the international language of the Middle Ages, so "Digital" is today.

Cheers,

Wow, nice to know that someone abroad understands my name :) It's actually "daughter of God" :) and I'm Israeli.

Thanks so much for the effort.

Hi BambiBoom,

I'm about to purchase the parts and wanted to make sure that the parts can work in European electricity. Or should I switch some of them to European type?

[/quotemsg]

BatelRahat,

My concern is for the proper power supply. The currents to the internal components such as the CPU, RAM, and drives are the same everywhere, but of course, the current from the power outlet is different. So, my inclination would be to certainly buy the power supply within the country where the system is to be used. It's possible that power supply makers would not honor warranties if the unit was used in a country other than where it was purchased.

I don't know the details but if you can purchase in the U.S. without substantial taxes and duties, the prices are much lower. However, at the moment the Euro is very weak and the savings is not as much. The UK has some categories and some companies will export minus the UK VAT, (which rising soon) on electronic components.

Shalom,
