Hard drive wont read/ write

i have this 2 seagate 1000 gb hard drive that will show up in windows and disk manager but when ever i try to access this drive it freezes and wont load and ive given it a fair amount of time on attempts and it will not load what could be the problems and solutions other than a dead drive

Sounds like the drive is faulty. Test it with Seatools.

Hi there jaxsshadow,

I would agree with i7Baby and say that you need to test the drive with a brand specific testing tool. You can try swapping cables and SATA ports as well.
Is this a new drive or you have used it for a while.
If it is a new one and the test shows that there is something wrong with it, I would advise you to contact the manufacturer and eventually RMA it.
If you have some data on it though, you can try accessing it with some data recovery tool. Check this out: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1644496/lost-data-recovery.html
If this doesn't work, you can try running chkdsk C: /R in the command prompt. C: is the respective letter which, in your case may be a different one. Check this out: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html
