I'm looking into a new graphics card for my computer and these are the two on my mind.

The 960 is clearly more powerful but is £50 more than the 750, is it worth paying the extra for the upgrade?

The build I have is:
FX-6300,
500W PSU,
970A-DS3P,
Samsung 840 Evo SSD,
Sapphire Radeon HD 7770 GPU
8GB Corsair RAM.

What will be the best option for me?

Yes it will fit and if your willing to spend the Extra $$ then go for it these 900 series cards are amazing, I'm waiting for a 960 TI for one of my system upgrades should be around $250. I bought a 970 GTX earlier and it was well worth it.

I can only think of 3 reasons to consider a 750Ti over a 960 GTX.

1. Your stuck with a 300 Watt power supply the 960 TI is recommended for a 400 Watt.
2. You want to save $50.. big performance gain for spending the extra cash.
3. You can't fit a 9.5 inch card in your case.

So it'll probably be the best option to go for the 960? I don't know if the card can fit in my case, it's the zalman z11 plus so it's got quite a bit of room.

Let's say Far Cry 4 on ultra settings on a 1680x1050. I don't know what the screen would fall under.

Just realized. I don't think my PSU has a 8-pin power wire and I believe that the 960 requires one for its power supply. Is it safe to use some sort of adapter or should I just go for the 750 instead?

This is my PSU: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004XG6I1W?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00

After reviewing this a bit more, I noticed that my PSU only has 1 6 pin wire so it won't be able to support a 8 pin adapter. Does this mean that I can't get the 960 without a new PSU?

Supplementary Power Connectors 1x 6-pins
Graphics Card Power (W) 120 W

Your good that Supply will be good enough.

As much as I like ASUS products most ASUS and Sapphire GPU'S use the same supplied fans which seem to be hit and miss on how long they will work. The length of the cards vary 9.5 is the Nvidia listing for MAX length most will be much smaller, I imagine the TI's will be more to the full length.

But the 960 has a 8-pin input, can I just use the 6-pin or what?

Sorry, not entirely sure what you mean

Looking a bit more into the 960 range the ASUS is only slightly less powerful than the EVGA but around the same price. I'm not too fussed about the power loss my only worry is my PSU, its a 500w so it should be okay but I saw that when the 960 is under a full load it can use up to 230 of those watts. Can anyone give me some insight into this?

960's in any form will never draw more than 180 Watts. A basic 960 GTX is rated max 120 Watts so a overclocked version isn't going to be much higher than 60 watts more even in the worst conditions.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-gtx-960,4038-9.html

Asus 960 GTX uses 1X 6 pin connector
EVGA's and MSI's O.C versions of the 960 GTX use 1X 8 pin Connector
Gigabytes 960 GTX uses 2X 6-pin external power connectors

All ask for a 400 Watt supply minimum. So it's up to you if a bit more factory overclocked performance is worth replacing your power supply when you can Overclock the Stock card yourself and get the same Results.
If your wondering why the difference in connectors.
Asus will uses a Different PCB for the 960 GTX and 960 TI
EVGA, MSI and Gigabyte will use the same PCB for the 960 GTX and 960 TI
XFX has yet to release this much info.

So is the asus not factory over clocked where as the evga and others are? Is that why it only needs a 6 pin because it requires less power out of the box?
