Hi all!

So this afternoon, I installed a new i5 processor 1115 socket. I checked and made sure it was compatible with my motherboard on Asus's website. I installed it, turned my computer on and it won't boot to Windows. So I restarted it again and went into BIOS, it detects that my CPU is there and has the info about it. So I took it out and put my processor in and that won't boot to Windows either. As an IT guy, I'm very confused and in desperate need of help. I'd be most grateful for anyone's input, thank you!

What is your specific processor? If it is a haswell refresh then you will have to refresh your bios for it to work correctly. Also what is the motherboard, because if it is Z97 than it is not going to need a bios refresh, something else is wrong

It's an i5-3570k processor. I just did a flash bios update. It made more progress and showed the Windows logo and the circle spinning under it. But it failed. It almost looks like Windows is damaged or something.

Good luck :)

run MEMTEST: www.memtest.org

That will verify your DDR3 system memory and basic CPU/Motherboard functionality.

It sounds like your OS is corrupted however the cause MAY be a DDR3 issue or bad HDD/SSD (or other).

It's odd to me that things worked BEFORE and not now. Since you replaced the CPU it's possible you have an issue with DDR3 memory seating or a loose power cable.

Thank you guys for your help and guidance. I updated the BIOS and that seemed to be the problem. Although, after I started it up again after I updated the BIOS, it failed. But I restarted it again and again, it seems to be working now. Thank you for taking the time to help!
