I'm looking at getting a 280x to help my 7970 out once The Witcher 3 comes out. I've got a 750 watt EVGA bronze power supply this site rates my build with the 280x added in at 683 watts. should i spend the extra 100 bucks to upgrade my psu to 850 watt, or will i be ok with my current PSU? I have NOT overclocked my cpu, and i plan to have the 7970 and 280x core clocks to be at 950 MHz each. thanks for the help!

ps: anyone who actually has 2x 7970's or something similar who can weigh in would be much appreciated.

Solution
I would not risk using the 750w unit then, 125w cpu paired with 600w of graphics can be an issue.
It will likely run on the unit, but it may become unstable at high loads.

If you wish you could try to run it on your unit, and if you run into issues upgrade the PSU later.

i completely forgot to mention that my cpu is an fx 8320, but like i said, its at factory clocks and i have no intention of overclocking
