Does the battery of the Lenovo Y50 need to be removed before replacing the HDD?

I've had some unfortunate issues replacing hard drives without removing all power supplies before and would expect something similar to exist for the Lenovo Y50.

After seeing some YouTube videos, it looks as though people do simply just replace the hard drive, however, this seems to be a little fishy to me. Is it actually okay to stay in or must it be removed first? If so, how would this happen?

I'm very keen to be replacing it with my SSD so I can have a decently fast experience.
