Budget Range: 800 dollars with mechanical keyboard and monitor

System Usage from Most to Least Important: programming, writing papers, gaming, surfing the internet, watching movies)

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Do you need to buy OS: Maybe thinking of using Linux

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com or anything that is reliable

Location: City, State/Region, Country - we need to know where these parts are being assembled and whether there are good store-only deals available

Parts Preferences: IDK about my CPU still my friends keep saying that Intel is better but AMD is cheaper and feels much better bang from my money

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

I need to also purchase a Monitor don't really care too much about frame rate

Additional Comments: I would like a quiet PC with a lot of air flow. Also use eclipse IDE and would like to run games sometimes

Here is a build i made on pcpartpicker :

By budget for everything is about 900 PC + monitor + keyboard

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: (e.g. I'm having trouble running game X or my PSU broke)

Solution
The 260x isn't a great card; there is no point getting a great keyboard for a bad GPU. Especially as your keyboard costs more than the GPU.

I use a $30 wireless keyboard and it works great for gaming and general typing. Get a cheaper keyboard and upgrade the GPU.

Also you really need windows, Linux can't run as many games. Check out http://www.reddit.com/r/microsoftsoftwareswap for cheap OSs
