Hi everyone,

There are two G skill rams

http://www.snapdeal.com/product/gskill-4gb-x-1-ddr3/1379190 and

http://www.snapdeal.com/product/gskill-4gb-x-1-ddr3/1337338

Both have the exact same specs. Only is a ripjawsX and other is a value ram.

A friend has the same Gigabyte combo G41M mobo as me but with core 2 quad processor while I have core 2 duo processor.

His CPU's fsb is 1333 Mhz while mine is 1066 Mhz.

Now I tried the ripjawsX ram on my mobo but it didn't work(another thread I made for that).

But my friend is using the Value ram on his mobo and it is working fine without tweaking any bios settings.

Is it because of my CPU's 1066 fsb that a 1333 Mhz ram is not working? Or

Should I try the value ram on my mobo which has the same exact specs as the ripjawsx that I tried- implying that there are other differences in ram than the specifications listed?

Please Help!
Thank You

Yes the Core 2 Duo processor supports only ram upto 1066Mhz in DDR3 duall channel
You need to get a ram with lower or exact frequency which the cpu demands
or you could try some adjustments in bios for the DRAM

Actually I was looking for a 1066 Mhz ram in the first place but I couldn't find one.
What tweaks can I do in the bios to make it work?

Or should I get a DDR2 ram and forget about DDR3?

The latest G.Skill Ripjaws are single-sided high density 4GB modules with a single row of 8 chips (1Rx8) and not supported by the G41 chipset, they are however supported by newer motherboards.

The G.Skill value ram is a double-sided low density 4GB module with dual rows of 8 chips (2Rx8) and is supported by the G41 chipset.

You also cannot mix double-sided and single-sided modules together, they are incompatible. But the problem is your motherboard does not support single-sided high density memory.
