Hey Everyone,

It's been awhile (years) since my last upgrade. Currently running
AMD X4 925
4GB Corsair XM3
Amd 6970
Random Foxconn Am3 board (Cant remember)
WD Blue 1tb drive

Usage needs: HTPC / Browsing / Gaming in order of needs.

I'm looking to get the most bang for my buck and maybe save on electricity usage. Budget 300-350
I've been considering going to the g3258 with a new mobo & 250gb Evo SSD.

Recommendations welcome and appreciated!

Yea, I can understand that. But I think that your current CPU will outperform the g3258. Just get 8 gigs of ram and this SSD and I think you would get enough of a performance boost to scratch the itch.

Plus, both parts I listed would transfer over nicely to a complete new build in a year or two from now when a whole system upgrade...
Those specs are not very bad at all. What problems are you running into that you want more computing power?

I would add more ram, but I need to know what kind of ram your motherboard supports in order to recommend some to you. But I think more ram and a nice SSD would be a nice cheap upgrade. Your CPU and GPU should still be pretty capable for your needs.

That's just my two cents though.
