Thanks Martin. Funny you should say that as I have another issue that seem's related. I've noticed after running a game and then checking HW Monitor afterwards the max temps are quite high 68 degrees highest core. What I also noticed was the cpu fan had only gone from 820 rpm to 999 rpm. Doe's that seem like low fan speed for cpu load? I assume the cpu fan in HW Monitor would be the H80i GT fan? What are the max rpm on these?

Where do I check pump speed? Corsair Link? Because that's another problem I seem to have, the H80i Gt cooler pump and cooler fan are blinking red in Corsair link and have no values. The H80i GT Cooler temp has a value but is also blinking red.

Which version of Prime95 are you running? Later than 26.6 tends to excessively overheat Intel chips in a way that isn't representative of real-world use.
Prime95 Small FFT's is the standard for CPU thermal testing, because it's a steady-state 100% workload. This is the test that Real Temp uses to test sensors. The link above is to version 26.6, which is well suited to all Core i and Core 2 variants.

Core i 2nd, 3rd and 4th Generation CPU's have AVX (Advanced Vector Extension) instruction sets. Recent versions of Prime95 run AVX code on the Floating Point Unit (FPU) math coprocessor, which produces unrealistically high temperatures. The FPU test in the software utility AIDA64 shows the same results.

It's not necessary to run AVX code for thermal testing. Prime95 v26.6 produces temperatures on 3rd and 4th Generation processors more consistent with 2nd Generation, which also have AVX instructions, but do not suffer from thermal extremes due to having a soldered Integrated Heat Spreader and a 35% larger Die.

you applied the proper amount of thermal paste and made sure to give even pressure when applying the cooler to spread it?

The thermal paste was preapplied on the pump so i didnt feel the need to apply more..?

Ah ok. What I would do to test your temps is power off for 10-15 minutes and then Boot into bios for temps, not after a stress test because your CPU could still stay hot for a bit. My CPU stays at like 42c after im done gaming for a while but it actually idles at like 33 with an h80i

I didnt do anything to reach those temps. I didnt even stress test because as soon as i booted it for the first time the idle temps were already high ... Corsair LINK doesnt detect my pumps either and i think the fans are spinning a low RPM because of that

Is the pump properly plugged in to everything? Via a USB header block thing and Via fan header on the Mobor? Make sure its also plugged in to a Molex Power connection as well to pump!

Yeah and the fans stay at 800rpm.. Corsair Link doesnt detect the pump and fans.

Do you have the mini Usb from the block plugged into the mobo's usb header?

Yes I have and I also tried switching from usb header.
