Very soon I will be buying the Asus Z87-A and I saw on a suggestion on PCPartPicker that I might need to update the bios before using my 4th Gen CPU that im buying for it. Is this true? I thought maybe because i'm buying it after that bios update was created that maybe the update was already present on the board.

You're gonna use Z87 mobo with i7 4790K or i5 4690K?
You might need a BIOS update, might not.
I am using an i7 4770K with a Z97 mobo and right out of the box it worked with a stock BIOS.
I also used i5 4670K with a Z97 mobo and it worked right out of the box.
So you'll be fine.

Unless you get one that's been on a shelf forever (not likely, it's one of the highest selling Z87 mobos, the BIOS should be up for your CPU, still miight want to update for things like DRAM compatibility, and compatibility with newer devices
