Hi All ,

I had previously posted an question about my external Seagate drive that crashed . I have since opened the enclosure and found a Samsung 2.5" drive inside . I opened the drive up and found the drive arm was sitting on the disc and had not returned to the " rest position " . I gently moved the arm back and closed up again . Still didnt work but a new loud clicking noise could be heard .

I then opened the drive up and saw that the arm was still in the " rest position " and then plugged the drive in with the cover off . What is happening is the arm is moving back and forth and making a clicking noise , it does not actually get to the disc. It just moves in the area before the disc itself , hope that makes sense .

What are my options now ? Do i find another drive and implant the arm section to this one . What are my options here . As far as I can see there is no damage at all to the disc's themselves .

Thank you in advance .

Hi there KevinZA,

When you opened the drive up, you exposed the platters to dust contaminated environment. Unfortunately, in my view, you will not be able to recover the data. :(
Of course, it is always a good idea to wait for some more suggestions.
