The only drivers you need to install for your current system specification (apart from peripherals like printer/scanner) are those for the motherboard and graphics card:

Motherboard drivers: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A97_R20/HelpDesk_Download/
Install "Chipset" driver first.

Graphics card drivers: https://www.asus.com/us/Graphics_Cards/STRIXGTX970DC2OC4GD5/HelpDesk_Download/

Where multiple versions of the same driver are listed, you only need the latest one (ie the one at the top of the list).
Only install older version if latest one causes problems (but remove existing driver first).

The motherboard and graphics card manufacturers will in due course release updated drivers but you should not install them unless you have a compelling reason to do so. If everything is working okay, leave well alone.
Updating a driver just because there is a newer version available is not a compelling reason.

If you have not done so, install an antivirus or malware app.
Windows defender(aka security essentials) is unobtrusive and all you need unless you open email links or visit porn sites.

The cd that comes with your motherboard should have all needed motherboard drivers.
They may not be the most current, but there is no need for the latest unless you have a problem.
Install drivers only do not take the "install all" option or you will load up on trial ware and unneeded apps.

For Nvidia, go directly to the nvidia web site and download the latest drivers for GTX970.
