I am thinking if buying a new SSD. at the moment i have a 2TB SSHD with everything on and i want to buy a 120GB SSD for windows 8.1 OEM and GTA 5, would i just move everything i dont want on the ssd to a different HHD and re-install windows on the SSD the move the other data from the backup storage to my main 2TB SSHD?

1. How much used space is on the current drive? Presumably, way more than 100GB.
If that is the case, just install the OS on the new drive. Reinstall your applications. Most, except for games, can fit on a 120GB SSD.

And when you install on the SSD, have only the SSD connected.

Personally, I would keep the SSHD as your main boot drive, as the OS components would likely be in it's cache section anyway, and then just install the applications/games you want to be quick on your new SSD, keeping the entire portion available for your favorite applications/games.

In fact, I have that exact same setup for my machine at home. I use a 1TB SSHD with a 480GB SSD and then another 1TB regular spinning disk for backups and random storage.
