Hey guys, just got a 144Hz panel and decided to go with the XL2730Z. I can't figure out how to get 144Hz. I used to used a CRT with the CRU application getting 102Hz, but since I've got this monitor I'm running into this one and only issue it seems.

-I've went into Windows Update, and got the driver to install.
-My GPU is a 1GB 560 Ti, and it has 2 DVI-I ports. I'm obviously using the provided DVI cable with no avail.
-I try to go into Windows and Nvidia control panels with no 144Hz option. Not even 120Hz.

The panel is 2560x1440 @ 144Hz. No 144Hz is shown, any help guys? This noob would greatly appreciate it.

PS: I've cleared and reset all settings made my CRU and I've removed it. I don't want to create custom resolutions when this panel was made to run 144Hz without having to do any major geeky tweaks.

I would recommend never letting Windows Update install hardware drivers.... but me on the arse more times than I care to remember. How are you accessing ....

Right Click Desktop \ Screen resolution \ Advanced Settings \ Monitor Tab \ Drop Down list

You need dual link DVI-D cable for 144 Hz

Im not sure but I think that your 560 ti is too weak to run at 2560x1440 144Hz

Users were reporting that their DVI-I ports worked for 144Hz. A DVI-I port is a DVI-D port, but is equipped with connectors that carry VGA signal as well. I read that if you're using a DVI-D cable, the VGA signals are ignored. I don't understand why I can't see 144Hz options.

Provided with what ?

If it came with the monitor, it should work
If it came with the cards, system build or something else, I'd be doubtful

My son changed rooms and when he hooked everything else back up, it didn't work. he insisted he used the right cable, but when he switched them it worked....he has two 560 Tis BTW

Yes exactly! I don't get it. There's no downloads available for this monitor other than the Display Pilot Software which lets you choose presets that famous gamers use, which I don't want. I'll download it anyway right now and see what it does. Maybe it contains the important drivers needed. I uninstalled the Windows-based drivers, and I'm downloading the Display Pilot Software.

PS: DVI-I ports support DVI-D cables. The DVI-D cables just don't have the pins used for VGA signal, which isn't needed in this application.

I went and downloaded the Display Pilot Software from BenQ, and got the latest release (v2.22). It actually installed drivers. I set the program up, and it's actually not bloatware. I'm still stuck at 60Hz though.

Also, I have no idea why it went ahead and selected an answer above as the best answer. That did not solve my issue, nor did the comment show that the author thorougly read what I had originally posted.

I unselected it for you ... I did read what you posted but the posts are sometimes hard to follow. I gave you several suggestions (5), unfortunately none of them worked and unfortunately there were no different suggestions offered.

So far we have confirmed....

it's not the cable
its not the card
it's not where you are setting it (I assume)
it's wasn't an uninstalled INF file
not sure what Windows Update might have screwed up

I thank you greatly for what you have put into this, seriously. Yet like you said, nothing worked. I uninstalled the Windows Update driver that it installed. My Computer>Manage>Device Manager>Monitors>BenQ XL2730Z. I uninstalled that, which was what Windows Update decided to install. Afterwards, I went ahead and installed the latest driver package from BenQ (the Pilot Software thing).

"It's not where I'm setting it?" What do you mean? It may be the issue.

I purchased the exact same monitor and was wondering why the DVI-D cable was not working with anything but 60hz. The issue is in fact the DVI-D cable. Turns out you need to use Display Port. You should have one with the monitor, mine came with Display Port and DVI-D. Apparently DVI-D works fine for 144hz in 1080p. But DVI-D does not support 1440p at 144hz at all. You will need to use Display Port if you want 144hz with your monitor.

I have the same problem but i had it working when i purchased the monitor but now the option does not even show. I just bought the new gtx 970 with the benQ monitor. XL2730Z. I called EVGA and they told me that 1080p is the standard for 144hz. I can only get the 144hz to work on 1080 now. The odd thing is i had it working before. 144hz at 1440, but i did get bluescreened twice. Im guessing that something happened which took away that option to keep the computer from crashing. Im not sure what the issue, but it might be me connecting 2 additional 60hz 1080 monitors with the 144hz 1440 benq. Please let me know if you guys find a fix. Im thinking a GPU issue. If my gtx970 doesnt run it, I doubt your GPU will.
