What is the best GPU I can get that won't bottleneck a FX 6100 6-core?

I have an FX 6100 6-core processor and an ancient GT 640 graphics card. I'm looking to put a new card in here, but I don't want to get something that will have too much wasted overhead. Any ideas?

An R9-280 or GTX 960 would be a nice sweet spot without yielding that overall noticeable bottleneck from processing power lacking. But if you're planning on upgrading to a beefier processor later on, I'd invest in the single strongest card you can afford right now
