Quick question about MB -> GB

Quick question, I know that there's 1024 MB in a GB, but does this work the same for RAM? Because on the ram on my computer, I'm current using 609.4 MB, which should be a little over half a GB according to that ratio, but my laptop tells me I'm using 2.2 GB, which should be over 2000MB

Is ram different with the ratio, or?

RAM is in 1024 increments. How do you know that you are only using 609.4 MB if the OS reports 2.2GB?

There are many things that use RAM in the normal, idle operation of a PC and the Vista/7/8.? OS's task manager can show you exactly what is consuming your RAM.
