OK my question is I bought a alienware aurora r4 system. I know huge mistake and trust me I learned my lesson. My question is it has a intel x79 chipset what does that mean? I want the i3 processor that is in it for another build. Can I take this chip out of this pc?? Sorry im new to building but want to learn all the skills and make it a hobby...

The X79 is used for Sandy-Bridge Extreme processors, and will only fit CPU's that are compatible with the LGA2011 Socket, But I'm questioning wether or not your motherboard is X79 or not, as it has an i3 which isn't available for that socket. Have you mistaken it for LGA1155 perhaps?

EDIT: Didn't see your post about the i7, You'll need an X79 board to use it.
