I just had the dreaded "my motherboard won't power on" symptom on my ASRock Z97 Extreme4 motherboard. I want to replace the cmos battery on the board but I don't know what model type to get. Does anyone here know what type of battery it is? The board is working now but there is a huge reddit thread devoted to this board and this problem. I don't want to RMA it yet. I'll replace the cmos and see if that was the issue. Thanks. :)

The best way to ensure you get the exact battery is to look on top of it yourself and you will have the battery code to order to replace it.

You could Google it, but would suggest you play it safe and get the exact same battery by looking at it on the Motherboard.

Hope this helps.

I found out myself in case anyone needs to know. It's a 3 volt CR 2032 Newsun lithium ion battery. Any CR 2032 battery will work. Off to buy some now. Thanks for the help.

Edit: Quick post share2 care. Thanks for the help.

I checked the LDO regulator and mine is cool as can be. That thread was what made me also realize that it could be a bad cmos battery or that regulator. Since mine is cool, I'll try replacing the cmos battery as was noted in that thread. Thanks!
