If you want to invest in a beefy card like the Titan X, my advice in this case would be to actually wait a bit before throwing down $1,000 on a card that will be obsolete in a few months. NVIDIA is supposed to be announcing cards based on the new Pascal architecture which is 10x the speed of Maxwell: http://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2015/03/17/pascal/
