So my girlfriend has a pretty crappy old PC that she literally only uses for playing Smite. Not even browsing the internet. Literally just Smite. I'm sure eventually there might be another game or 2 but they won't be anything intensive. She currently has an HD 6850 video card and an Intel Core 2 Duo E6400. I can get a used E8400 for $15. The money is nothing I was just wondering if it's going to make a difference. She is running Windows 8.1 and that's definitely slowing her PC down, it's only got 3gbs of RAM. She runs the game at about medium settings with not great FPS.

Since the game seems to be more CPU intensive than GPU intensive, it should help. the 8400 is about 50% faster according to this site:

I personally run it with an i5 and an amd 7770 @ 1920*1080 at max settings at 60fps and have gotten it to run with the i5's onboard 4600 at medium to low settings in the 40-60fps range. Your 6850 is equivalent to the 7770
