You can remove the writing protection using diskpart in Windows. Open CMD and type the following:

diskpart(To open diskpart utility)
list volume(To list all available storage devices)
select volume [number] (Where number is the Seagate HDD you are having problems with)
attributes disk clear readonly
attributes volume clear readonly

If 'successful' messages are shown, writing protection should be removed.

Hey there, gert777!

I'd suggest to follow @AleksaSavic3's steps to removing the write protection on the drive.
Here are some other ways to do it as well: http://www.wikihow.com/Disable-Write-Protection

Another thing I strongly recommend doing is going to your HDD manufacturer and find the diagnostics utility to test the drive. It will let us know what is the health and SMART status of the HDD. You can post the test results if there is anything unusual.

Hope I was helpful. :)
