Hey everyone! Long story short, I know little to nothing about the hardware and etc of computers. I have a cousin that's pretty tech savvy, but I figured I should make a thread before consulting him just in case.

I'm looking to either buy a prebuilt computer or the parts to build one.....Well for he and I to build one.

It would mainly be used for gaming, art/design, animation, video editing (I do speedpaints), streaming, etc.

I'd like it to be in the $1000 or less range but that's not that important.

@Gskillrip thats good systems i had simular build in mind this one that you posted leaves a lot of space for future upgrades with the extra PCi E slot for future SLI use and a PSU that can power 1 more GPU in future

I don't know what you were going for but here, This is a decent PC for $1000 and I don't think you will need SLI for gaming and or art because this card can handle it very well you could do some minor overclocking on the card but as for your CPU you are not going to need it. Also 8gb of ram is minimum for gaming but probably MAX for a $1000 budget anyway hope you like it.

Replace the Xeon with an i7, he said gaming and those processors are better at doing that

A 1231v3 is an i7 without IGP, and added support for server grade hardware. It will game about the same as an i7 4770. ;) The 1231v3 is a Haswell refresh, and has a bit better memory controller, so it will probably be slightly better than the i7 4770.

Yep. The power of an i5 at the cost of an i5.

Also gratz for getting Mod, Logain.
