Hi,
My CPU all of a sudden began to overheat quickly and seemingly without cause. I play a lot of games for long periods of time but have never had a problem before until now. My computer has blue screened a couple times and the mother board bios keeps turning it off to save itself saying the CPU temperatures are reaching up to 100 degrees Celsius. When I run the Intel Diagnostic Tool, all four cores sit at ~100C, measured with Core Temp 1.9 RC6. Idle temperatures for the CPU are 55-60C Also my computer becomes very slow and laggy when its about to crash.

I have cleaned the case, and all 3 case fans. Cleaned both water cooler fans, and radiator. Applied new Arctic MX-4 thermal paste to my CPU. My computer is not overclocked and just under a year old. The room it's in is below room temperature around 17 degrees Celsius I would guess. Please help me figure out what is wrong and why my CPU is overheating.

CPU: intel core i7 4820k
Liquid cooling: Corsair H80i (closed loop water cooler)

this is an update of my previous thread: My CPU is suddenly overheating (idling at 65 degrees Celsius) please help! ( http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2599424/cpu-suddenly-overheating-idling-degrees-celsius.html )

Solution
I vote pump failure. If it wasn't Corsair CLC, I'd just read the pump rpm off the CPU fan header.... does Corsair Link tell you anything ?

If it was a loose block, I imagine you'd be able to easily tell.

All the above and: Also check your bios to be sure the voltage is correct on the cpu. Reset it manually to stock recommended value. The auto set may not be working correctly. Either your cooling is off or your voltages are to high causing heat. Last item could be the cpu is failing, rare but it happens.

I just downloaded corsair link now and it doesn't show the pump, I'm not sure how to use the program though and it isn't very noob friendly :'( the water block is secure and snug, here is a picture of what corsair link shows for fan and pump info, not sure why its showing my gpu fan at 29 rpm which isnt right http://postimg.org/image/5mkzm66j1/

ok new update I got the program to work i had to dig out my usb cable for the pump, it shows the pump is running at 2417rpm

It should the tubes are black so I can't see in but the out hose heats up all along it, it's a closed loop and I don't really know how to check it other than corsair links temp reading of the liquid is accurate to what the cpu temp is, way too high :'(

the liquid is hitting 100c? That is not a good sign. I suspect that perhaps the cooler itself has lost some liquid as if the fans and pump are running then it should not get that hot. Water boils @ 100c which is bad bad bad in a water cooling setup.

ay thanks for all your help turns out it was the cooling system a guy hooked me up with a stock heatsink fan for a different intel socket and just sitting it on there not even locked in with my comp horizontal temps were 40 degrees less at load. so i got a coolermaster seidon 120V liquid cooling system, and used some of the fans from the corsair H80i to get more air through the radiator and now my cpu only goes up to 40C on max load :D
