For some odd reason, my laptop broke so I had to then get a desktop. It was a bargain so it only came with 4gb ram. When I am doing things, such as researching for an essay/using photoshop with other things open, the system runs out of memory very fast. I do still have 1 DIMM slot left on my motherboard, and am considering upgrading. Now, I'm wondering what the best solution is for someone who does light to somewhat moderate gaming, but also multitasks/having lots of windows open while gaming. Should I spend roughly $30 on another 4gb ram stick to total up to 8? Or should I go balls to the walls to "future proof" (that word is annoying) my computer in terms of memory and buy an 8gb stick to total it up to 12 for a better price than 4gb? Currently, a 4gb stick that I found online is about $30-$35, while for double that, you can find 8gb sticks for $50-$55. I would like to save a pretty penny, even if that means only going for another 4gb stick. I would only go for anoyher 4gb stick if 12gb is absolute overkill. After trial and error, I am definitley not a fan of a paging file (and "downloading" xtra gr8 ddr8 67gb ram). So, if I only need a total of 8gb for this kind of use (multitasking, light to moderate 3D rendering and gaming with other applications open), I would only buy 4 extra gigs. If people say that 12 would be ideal for these purposes, I might spend the extra $25 or so on an 8gb stick. Answers and sugestions/help would greatly be appreciated
