I fear my HDD is going bad. I can not get a replacement Win7 as I am out of warranty. However, I could still burn a recovery DVD from my laptop. Will a recovery DVD will allow me to reinstall on a new HDD with my OEM key.
if you have your product key you can go here to get an iso download from microsoft.if your version is an oem one you will have to go to your computer manufacturer for a copy. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery
Usually a recovery disk will recover the OS, usually on a new HDD as well. About the OEM key? that is usually built into the recovery DVD, UNLESS you are going to a different PC

thanks for that. Part of the problem is that Dell will not give a Win7 disc if your laptop is out of warranty. Hence, my question whether I can re-install from a recovery disc.
