Hi All,

Will the new NVMe Intel SSD 750 work with my Asus P8P67 Evo board?
I can seem to find a compatibility list.
Im in the market for a larger SSD & these just came out. Waaaay faster than normal SSDs so I thought I should check before buying.

Thanks All :)

The interface of the Intel SSD 750 is PCIe 3.0 x4.
So your motherboard would have to have at least 2 of those slots (assuming one slot would be used by your graphics card).

The P8P67 does not have any PCIe 3.0 slots. It has 4 PCIe 2.0 slots and 3 PCI slots.

Also, at the moment the only motherboard chipsets that support the SSD 750 as a boot drive are the Z97 & X99 chipsets.

Thanks but:

Ive got a Asus P8P67 Evo.
Currently I have a Samsung 830 256gb SSD.
I want to upgrade to something larger. Actually, I want to buy the best SSD my mobo can handle. I dont believe it has m.2 or know if I can get an adapter or use a pci-ssd.
I want the fastest & last SSD this mobo will need (plan on changing motherboards later).

I was looking at the SanDisk Extreme Pro 512gb.
Is there something better or comparible?

Thanx All :)

Why not just use the second PCIe 2.0 16x for the SSD? I don't see how it would have to be PCIe 3.0.

The whole NVMe and booting thing is a bit more complicated though and probably an issue.

I thought PCI-E was backwards compatible for instance pcie 3.0 8x could simply be 16 x on 2.0?

I have a P3500 that I want to use on my p8p67, but when I put it in there, I get a blank video (guess it interferes with the video card. )

David, so the motherboard detected the card? I'm wondering if there is any bios I can use to re flash my p8p67 so I can detect the card. When I install the card, my video card stops working.

Hello Everyone,

So I found the solution after many hours of testing.

#1 780GTX will not boot in EFI comparability mode on the p8p67, there is something incompatible with the board and the BIOS. So you have to use Legacy Mode, (which can still boot a UEFI HDD)

#2 The reason it would not post, is if there is something in the 4th B2 dimm slot while the Intel P3700 NVME drive is in PCIE slot 2 (black) the machine will not post. By removing the ram it will post, or by installing the ram and removing the PCI-E board it will post and work. Very strange some compatibility issue here.

#3 You will need to set the bios to use 4x mode in the PCI-E slot and disable USB 3.0 front header to gain the speed needed to run the NVME drive (which will still be crippled in speed due to the PCI-E 2.0 4x only.

#4 You will have to hack the UEFI modules to allow to boot from NVME. In my case I had to remove the TPM UEFI driver so I had enough space to add the NVME boot drivers. You can find more info at www.win-raid.com and see my posts there, also my modified ROM.

#5 you cannot have any ram in the 4th Dimm slot. I don't know why but my MSI z77 motherboard is the same except you can't have ram in the 2,3,4th slot So strange.

Hi Zazzn,

Sorry to get back to you late like two years later. Glad you found the right hack to use on Win-Raid. Actually thats the one I use or rather they're using the hack I came up with few years ago. I actually was the first one to come up with that idea back in 2015. Anyhow glad its working for you.
