I am building a pc from second hand parts off of: www.marktplaats.nl www.ebay.nl and www.tweakers.net

I already have a HD 7950 that I picked up for 100 euros

My dad has an old workstation I may have, (Precision 690) and I saw what its pottential was...

I can buy a or a pair of Xeon x5365
I can buy a motherboard from ebay that is from another workstation (T7400) and buy one (or a pair of) Xeon x5492

I could also just not use the workstation, and buy seperate parts (much more expensive)
My current top candidates for this are:
i5 3570k
FX 8350 (Black Edition)
i7 2600

I would like to use the pc for:

Gaming (AAA titles and also just CS:GO and LoL)
recording all my gameplay with fraps or dxtory
streaming my gameplay once and a while
sometime game in ifinity/nvidia surround (I will first need to ug my GPU)
starting a tech YouTube channel (so good editing but a few minutes rendering doesn't matter)
running virtual machines and triple booting Windows, some Linux distro and OS X

I understanf that intel is best for gaming, due to their high single threaded performance, but is buying an i7 really worth the extra 100+ euros (my budget is extremely tight)?
And is an xeon e much better than xeon x???
What about Xeeon x5492 vs x5365 vs x5660??? 5365 is cheapest and i can get two of them for the price of one mobo+x5492 which is cheaper than x5660+mobo

He already has a videocard so i7 would be money spent for nothing so my advice go with xeon 1230v2 or any 1230 u find, u will be much better, it is the same thign as a top end i7 but doesnt has a integated videocard(which u dont need)

Salut Dragos,

I`m not recommending the i7 for the integrated graphics (which might actually come in handy in some situations), but for the overclocking potential, and the more widespread use - making it easier to find used models.

This is true but he said he is on a tight budget so this is will be the cheapest alternative and keeps the performance high, depends on OP is he plans to OC then the i series with K , especially i72600k or 3770k is recomended if he doesnt plan to oc tyhen the xeon e-series

I will be overclocking (why not?)

I have the old workstation, and the xeon x would cost me 70 euro for a single x5365, or 80 euro for a mobo from a T7400 (70 euro) and a x5492 (80 to 90 euro)

I have a total budget of 350 euro, but would also like to have some money over for peripherals and a monitor (second hand is fine so not that much money, and I can always save up and expand my budget)

I found an i7 2600 for 120 euro here:http://www.marktplaats.nl/a/computers-en-software/processors/m915076886-i7-2600-lga1155-3-4ghz.html?c=8c285449651fa109c354bbabe740c1b&previousPage=lr

I also found a much cheaper i7 975, but that wont nearly cut it...

I found a FX 8350 (not black edition) for 130 euro: http://www.marktplaats.nl/a/computers-en-software/processors/m901153866-amd-fx-8350-stock-koeler.html?c=8c285449651fa109c354bbabe740c1b&previousPage=lr

I found a FX 9370 Black Edition for 150 euro: http://tweakers.net/aanbod/790144/amd-fx-9370-black-edition.html

I found a FX 8320 Black Edition for 100 euro: http://tweakers.net/aanbod/778264/amd-fx-8320-black-edition.html

I found an i7 2600k for a total of 115 euro: http://www.ebay.nl/itm/INTEL-i7-2600K-PROCESSOR-NEVER-OVERCLOCKED-/281654155341?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4193e5584d

I am willing to stretch my budget, but I wont spend more than 150 euro on my cpu...

i7 2600k worth it, fx 9370 is a bit slower in gaming but better for streaming and editing, but u will need a killer power supply.

Edit: Just saw same crysis 3 gameplay on yourtube with amd 7970 and with fx 9370 and with i7 2600k, it looks like i7 2600k is 3-4 fps faster so if u can afford a high power good psu (i think 800W) go for fx 9370 it is A LOT better in streaming and editing.

I know i need a good psu, but how much exactly?

That is for the 9370, u can add the 100$ one 750W (it is only as a model reference, u can search at your vendors this model prices) for the i7 u can go with this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151094
