hello, i have a old pc for car software and things like that, and this weekend i had a very strange problem.
The motherboard is a asus p4v800d-x, via pt880 ultra chipset, and p4 3.2 prescott processor.
When i tried to start the pc was died, no beeps, absolutly anything, so i told me, ok the motherboard is dead.
Dont know why but i decided to put an old northwood 2.4ghz that i had in my house, and surprise, the mainboard start to live again, so i told me, ok the processor is died, no problem.
But the most strange is that a good friend of mine that have an old asrock s478 told me that we should to prove the processor in her motherboard, and the prescott works perfect in his mainboard.
So, my mainboard works, but no if i put the prescott, the processor works, but not in my mainboard, and this processor was in my mother 5 years or more

Maybe the bios is corrupt?, i cant think another option.

If her CPU works in your board, and yours works in hers, that should indicate the BIOS. Maybe try putting in a new battery to see if it makes a difference. I don't know if a bad VRM module would allow a lower speed CPU to work where a higher one may not. You may need to check with Asus on that one. Meanwhile, why not work out a trade and put her CPU in your rig until you can figure out what to do?
