Okay, I am very very new to the computer world, but i do know a thing or two about them. But i am absolutley stumped and need assistance since HP and EVERY computer repair shop only know the tiny basics on computers and have ran $100 out of my wallet just for taking their time to check it out for days on end. Okay, here is the issue.

Given that i make and produce music and play games I recently got more ram to upgrade from 2 gb to 4 so everything will run smoothly. i first purchased a simple ddr2 2gb stick to go with my 1gb samsung and the other 2 512 mb hp sticks. okay so that was my dumb decision. im young and i dunno what i was thinking. so i return it to best buy and bump the dofus for telling me " OH YEAH MIXING THOSE SIZES IS PERFECTLY FINE. "

so i go to micro world ( a local shop out here in the country. ) they tell me i need a regular 1 gb stick . should work right? no. it doesnt. i put it in the 4th slot and it does this thing. the computer runs fine at first. recognizes the memory, starts to boot windows then ... NOPE blue screen and im stuck in a loop. a contant loop of false repairs and hopeless attempts. so i take out the ram. i know what you all are going to say right now... 1. bad stick. 2. bad slot. 3. incompatable. OKAY ALL 3 ARE FINE. crucial says my computer supports up to 8 gbs. and the memory i have are on the website. so what gives? i put the 1 gb i purchased in with the other 1gb i had prior to all this mess. and it worked fine. okay, so i scrapped the 512s and chilled while i waited for the 2x1gbs i ordered through amazon. finally after 4 days they get here. it's like xmas, i run upstairs and put in the ram and ERRRRRR nope! same. problem. recognizes the ram. and then poof blue screen again. countless attempts and no success. i just put the old ram in and get back to being a lameo with 2gb ram. please... someone tell me how to make my computer to let this ram work. here are the specs.

Specs:
DDR2 800 MHZ
Hp Compaq dc7800 Convertible Tower
2.20 Ghz Intel Dual Core E4500
Motherboard : 0AACH
Intel Q35 Chipset
Southbridge : 82801IO (ICH9DO)
Ram is Dual Channel, DDR2 , Symmetric
Model Number is : MXL751040

the ram im working with are 2 Samsung 1gb DDR2 sticks and 2 Komputerbay 1gb DDR2 sticks
both are 800 MHz 240 pin
PC2-6400

long enough? sorry folks, really would like to get this sorted out. hope to hear from you guys.

That is the common problem, compatibility problem, when you mix the RAM in a PC. In some cases you can try to increase the voltage or set the timing manually in the BIOS, or using the XMP profile if the MB can support it, and you can solve the problem. But for the OEM pc like your HP compag, they do disable that functions in the BIOS, you can't change those, all you can try that to put the ram in other slot ( different combinations, and remember to clear the CMOS before you try other combination for the RAM ) to see the PC can boot or not, if you can not work out, nothing you can do, just use what combinations the pc can boot, or buy the whole new RAM kit.
