I've just installed the Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD on my 8 year old VAIO. Did a clean install of Win 7 64-bit, without any of the SONY bloatware. Very minimal installation. Have had two instances of DOS style warnings that say "Hard Drive Failure Imminent. Back Up All Your Data then Press F1" or words to that effect. Press F1 and everything continues as normal. SSD is only one week old. The S.M.A.R.T. stats don't show anything scary. My BIOS is 2009 era but there hasn't been an update for it since and just about the only thing you can change in it is the boot sequence. It is AHCI enabled, though, which is good, and although the throughput is only SATA II, it all seems to be working fine.

Anyone got any ideas as to what could be causing the "Imminent Failure" warnings? Pretty sure it's not the drive ...
