dvd drive showing in my computer and device manager but not reading disks

My desktop pc dvd drive is not reading any dvd/cd . I have tired both dvds and cds the dvd drive (atapi dvd a dh16a3l) i shown on device manager. when pressing dvd drive in my computer it says insert a disk i inserted a disk and closed it and it still keeps saying insert a disk

May be your drive is on last stage of its life.
Check the led light while inserting dvd/cd.Does it blinks or it keeps on for little while?

tired a diffrent drive and boom it worked so the atapi dvd drive is ded
