Hi, i am using a Lenovo Z50-70 laptop with i3-4030 processor. I had to install Windows 8.1 cause on Windows 8 i was having a terrible font rendering that was killing my eyes. Now, a month after using it, whatever app i start or image i open, it opens it in the background and it's getting very irritating. I've got a copy of Windows 7 and i'm seriously considering to downgrade. Would it work on this model of computer/what are the benefits and is there a way to fix this windows problem?

Thank you very much.

This might help.

I would suggest checking for some registry settings and if you have any variations from the default value you may change them to default and check if the issue resolves –

1. Choose Start and then click Run, and type regedit in the Open text box then click OK.
2. Open the key -
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop.
3. Now in the registry editor window in the right pane you will find the keys Foreground Flash Count and Foreground Lock timeout.

Refer to the below links and check for the default values on your computer. Check if you have the same values as mentioned in the below links -

If the values differ from the default values you may double click the names and change the values. Make sure you make the decimal selection and then change the values.

Apparently and against all odds, the problem was solved by switching from the Windows-provided desktop background to a personalized image. To say in short for those who'll understand: офигеть (to loose your mind) :)

As an additional little factoid, if you don't like the windows 8 Metro screens and desktop features, you can install Classic Shell and return the desktop and start menu function to the Windows 7 style using classic shell. I use it for EVERY Windows 8 installation I do on a desktop or laptop. For mobile devices the Metro screens work well, but for desktops and laptops without touch features, the old menus and desktop functionality works better. It also highly configurable, if you right click on the start button and select properties you can personalize Classic Shell pretty much any way you want.
