I am getting a SSD to store Steam games on. It will take up almost all of the SSD. Should I also put Windows on it if there is enough room or keep it on the HDD? I am looking for faster load times for gaming. If I should move Windows to it, how?

My setup:

Asus Z97-A motherboard

Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor

Memory Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Mushkin 1TB SSD

EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB Superclocked ACX Video Card

NZXT Phantom 410 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case

Raidmax 850W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)

AOC e2752Vh 60Hz 27.0" Monitor

BenQ RL2455HM 60Hz 24.0" Monitor

Hey there zzmurray. Basically SSDs are meant for performance boost and are generally preferred for OS optimization. You know they have a somewhat predetermined and limited life, right? That's why they're not recommended for drives which would be used to write a lot if information on them regularly, but nonetheless, they're preferred for gaming by some people for the reason you want one as well. I'd recommend that you calculate carefully the storage space you'll need for the games along with the OS. It's recommended for the OS drive to have at least 10% of free storage space after everything's installed. If you don't mind the slower booting of the OS (when it's on the HDD) and if you are determined to move the Steam games for less loading...

It's recommended for the OS drive to have at least 10% of free storage space after everything's installed. If you don't mind the slower booting of the OS (when it's on the HDD) and if you are determined to move the Steam games for less loading time and faster passing in-game loading screens, then I'd suggest that you leave the OS as it is (on the HDD). This way you'll always have a bit more space for a couple of more games on the SSD. Besides sometimes cloning or migrating an OS can cause a lot of issue and that's why a fresh installation of Windows is always recommended.
Take a look at this article on moving Steam installation and games: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129

Hope that helps.
