I have an ASUS P5Q-E LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard with an Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale Dual-Core 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W BX80570E8500 Processor. I've been running the following RAM for 5+ years now:

RED -- G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ
DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Timing 9-9-9-24
Cas Latency 9
Voltage 1.5V

I recently felt that I needed more RAM so I purchased the following:

BLUE -- G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C9D-8GAB
DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Timing 9-9-9-24
Cas Latency 9
Voltage 1.5V

I tried the best I could to match everything, including the Timing and CAS latency. I installed all 4 sticks and for a while, everything seemed to work fine. However, the machine stopped recognizing the RAM. I set all the BIOS settings back to default, but now whenever I put the BLUE RAM in, I don't get the BIOS POST beep and the system just stays on the black pre-boot screen.

RED only: System works fine
RED and BLUE: No BIOS POST beep
BLUE only: No BIOS POST beep

I've already RMA'ed the RAM and installed the new sticks and unfortunately got the same results. I wonder if it has to do with voltage or the CPU or anything, but I don't want muck around without any insight, so does anyone have any advice?

Thanks

Thanks Emerald. But then I'm wondering, isnt the RED ram DDR3 as well? Why would that one work but not the BLUE?

The sticks fit just fine. The notch on the slot matches the notch on both the RED and BLUE sticks of RAM.
